Police: 1 person dead after shooting on Palmetto Expressway
Traffic has cleared on I-95 South after police activity at 69th Street, but the Palmetto Expressway northbound remains completely closed as a murder investigation is underway.
Initial reports obtained by Local 10 News are that police were looking for an individual who may have been involved in a shooting that took place earlier on the Palmetto Expressway, stopping a vehicle on I-95 South.
Sky 10 over the Palmetto captured a red Nissan with bullet holes on the side of the road.
Local 10 News has learned that 1 person in that car has died and another in the vehicle has been airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital.
On the Palmetto Expressway (SR 826) northbound traffic is backed up due to the investigation. Drivers will want to avoid that area, too. Local 10 News Traffic is reporting a closure between NW 74th Street to NW 103rd Street. The on-ramp from NW 74th Street and Okeechobee Road is also closed.
Police are on the lookout for a dark green or gray Grand Cherokee they believed was involved in the Palmetto shooting.
Sky 10 captured video of a Jeep pulled over on I-95 and a woman who had been taken from the car being questioned, but that scene has since been cleared.
