Police locate subject wanted for questioning in connection to Miami Beach shooting
Miami Beach police are investigating after a man was shot in the face early Wednesday morning.
The shooting was reported around 12:45 a.m. in the 6300 block of the beach, not far from the Casablanca on the Ocean hotel.
“There were two males and two females out on the beach in each other’s company when they observed a Hispanic, Black male subject wearing all black clothing to include a black hoodie. He was walking along the beach, made eye contact with the victim in this case and without any provocation, the subject fired one shot which struck the victim in the face,” Miami Beach police spokesman Ernesto Rodriguez said.
Rodriguez said the shooter fled south on the beach.
According to Rodriguez, Miami Beach Fire Rescue personnel rushed the victim to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center in stable condition.
The 20-year-old victim has since been released from the hospital. His identity has not yet been released.
Rodriguez said detectives were pursuing several leads in the case and are searching for a man, identified as Rayner Guerrero. He was located by authorities Wednesday afternoon.
Police have not named him as a suspect, but they want to question him regarding the shooting.
