Shooting in Miramar leads to a police chase in Lauderhill
A shooting in Miramar turned into a police chase on the Florida Turnpike on Tuesday afternoon.
Investigators believe passengers in two vehicles started shooting at each other along the 8500 block of Miramar Parkway before one of the vehicles got on the turnpike.
Police were later seen in Lauderhill near a black Range Rover sport, believed to be involved in the chase. It struck a stop sign before coming to a stop along Northwest 47th Avenue and 26th Street. Four people exited the vehicle. Two people were apprehended immediately, but officials searched the neighborhood for the other two for several hours.
Lauderhill police, Broward Sheriff’s deputies and Florida State troopers closed off the area to search for the remaining suspects.
Sky 10 was over the scene as officials blocked off several intersections in the neighborhood. Officers were also seen going door to door and through back yards with long guns, searching for the suspects.
A man who says he lives in the neighborhood shared surveillance video from his home security camera of one of the suspects in his yard with Local 10 News.
“Right when he got there he realized I had dogs, it startled him, so he came out the other way. I just feel that it’s crazy how people still commit these stupid crimes. I just feel like it needs to be stopped,” said the resident.
All four suspects have now been apprehended.
