Brush fire burns near Miami Executive Airport in southwest Miami-Dade
A brush fire erupted early Thursday morning in southwest Miami-Dade.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews initially responded to the fire in the area of Southwest 127th Avenue and 120th Street at around 4:15 a.m., just east of Miami Executive Airport, but said Florida Forestry crews have since taken over.
Sky 10 was above the fire around 6:30 a.m. and then again later in the afternoon.
Forestry officials confirmed that 50 acres have burned so far and the fire is 75% contained.
No injuries have been reported and no buildings have been damaged and airport officials said there have been no impact to operations so far, though traffic will be redirected if smoke becomes too heavy.
The cause of the fire is unclear at this time.
