Adult gambling causes shooting injuring 3 kids during Broward youth football game, witnesses say
Witnesses said a conflict between adult gamblers was to blame for a chaotic shooting during a little league football game on Sunday night in Broward County.
According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, the reckless shooting was shortly before 8:30 p.m., on Sunday, at Boyd Anderson High School, at 3050 NW 41 St., in Lauderdale Lakes.

Fire Rescue personnel determined three minors were shot and needed hospitalization for non-life-threatening injuries, deputies said.
The Florida Youth Football League’s Lauderdale Lakes Vikings played against The American Youth Football League’s Boynton Beach Bulldogs on Sunday at the Boyd Anderson High School’s field. A YouTube live stream by Qween of Sports showed a deputy’s marked SUV parked by the sidelines.
The audience’s abandoned debris — plastic bottles of water, food Styrofoam containers, paper cups, soda cans, and plastic bags — was still on the bleachers on Monday afternoon.

About 11 years ago, ESPN reported about “wads of bills” switching hands during South Florida Youth Football League games also plagued by alcohol and marijuana, as the “gambling and paying of players and their parents” went on for years. Peer-to-peer payment and betting apps launched years later.
BSO deputies did not confirm the witnesses’ report on gambling at the game. Detectives were asking anyone with information about the shooting to call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
