Shooting in northwest Miami-Dade leaves 1 minor dead, police say
A minor has been killed in a shooting that occurred around 10 a.m. Wednesday morning in northwest Miami-Dade, authorities confirmed.
The shooting was reported at Northwest 71st Street and 15th Avenue.
According to Miami-Dade police, a 17-year-old male was shot and was pronounced dead at the scene.
City of Miami police and Miami-Dade police could be seen taping off the area, where it is still a very active crime scene.
For nearly an hour police circled the area from the sky, searching for any sign of the shooter from their chopper.
A woman who lives in the area told Local 10 News that she heard at least four gunshots.
According to police, the suspect rolled up on a motorcycle and fired several shots a the victim before fleeing the scene.
A possible family member of the victim’s later arrived to the area in a black van. She was heard screaming in the street before she spoke with officers at the scene, who attempted to calm her down.
Other possible friends and family members of the victim, later arrived at the scene before being consoled by officers.
Detectives have not yet released the name of the person who was killed.
The investigation is currently ongoing.
No details have been released about a possible suspect.
