1 detained for questioning after report of gun on Broward school campus

Deputies from the Broward Sheriff’s Office responded to a high school Friday morning after receiving a report that a student brought a gun on campus.

A spokesperson for the agency confirmed to Local 10 News that the call for service was received just after 11 a.m., and deputies and detectives with BSO’s Threat Management Unit searched the campus of Blanche Ely High School, located at 1201 NW Sixth Ave. in Pompano Beach.

Authorities confirmed that no weapon has been found on campus, and the lockdown at the school has been lifted.

One person has been detained for questioning, but no arrests have been made, BSO confirmed.

No other details were immediately released.
