Sheriff: Broward sex predator caught trying to lure children
Deputies arrested a registered sexual predator they accused of attempting to lure children near an Oakland Park community center and officials are now asking potential victims to come forward.
According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, a witness reported Thursday afternoon that a man appeared to be talking to children outside Collins Community Center at 3900 NE Third Ave., trying to lure them to him.
It appears that the children had been released from Oakland Park Elementary School earlier that day, according to BSO.
Deputies located the man and identified him as 38-year-old Frederick Muller, a registered sexual predator convicted in Broward County of lewd and lascivious battery on a person aged 12 to 15. He was released from prison on June 27.
Muller faces three charges related to failing to comply with sex offender registration rules.
No victims have come forward, deputies said.
BSO is asking anyone who may have been victimized or who otherwise has information to call Detective Marlene Schnakenberg at 954-321-4789 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
